settling in

I finally feel as if I’m actually living here in Japan, and no longer just being on some adventure vacation. Today I put my bed together, which is really more of a plank bed that you put futon’s on, but all of the furniature, decorations etc and time I’ve put into the place makes it feel like mine. I didn’t have to run off to go on some excursion this weekend, I just stayed home, cleaned and had a blast with friends over dessert. Of course this whole thing is definately still one big adventure, and I don’t expect that to end any time soon, but the sense that I’m actually in my own home, building a new life is really cool, and comforting.  It probably sounds cheesy, but cliche’s are cliche because they work.  I’ve got a fresh week of school beginning tomorrow, and I think it will be a good one. I’m visiting the neighboring ALT’s school to check out a different approach to the job, and the students will be back from their mid terms, so things should be lower on the stress scale for them. Not to mention, I finished grading all the millions (800+) of exams from last week (drained 2.5 red pens) and am caught up with lesson plans thanks to the break in classes.

Here we go…
